NEW VIDEO WITH FOOTAGE FROM OUR FILM

Wonderful times at Space Command!

We have our own studio now and are ramping up to shoot the next section of our first film, “Redemption,” raising more money, building sets, making costumes and more.

Here’s some footage from the shoot I think you’ll enjoy:

Our ace VFX supervisor Geoff Mark (Serenity, Battlestar Galactica and, yes, Sharnado) is coordinating with Tobias Richter in Germany, the FX Animation School in Spain, Gnomon here in L.A. and a wealth of other FX artists to generate wondrous new shots for our film.

At the same time, our crack storyboard artist Larry Houston (with whom I worked in my youth on such shows as Captain Power, Blackstar and Mighty Orbots) is boarding sequences set in the asteroid belt and beyond.

Additionally, our co-producer and composer David Raiklen (who created our theme song and posts these updates for me) is working with me to cook up a surprise for all of you that we’ll be announcing shortly.

And Dave Edison, our favorite editor ever, is editing not only these update videos and the upcoming trailer – but the film itself!

Meanwhile, thanks to what I learned about our characters and their world through shooting our first 36 pages, I’m now revising the next three screenplays – “Forgiveness,” “The Great Solar War” and “Empire” – to reflect the deeper insights and resonances our wonderful ensemble has created.

Many of my friends in the TV world are so excited and encouraging about what we’re doing with Space Command — Michael Nankin (Battlestar Galactica, Defiance), Rock O’Bannon (Farscape, Revolution), David Simkins (Brisco County, Warehouse 13), Brannon Braga (Star Trek – TNG, 24, Cosmos), Glena Mazarra (Walking Dead, The Shield), Gabe Sachs (Freaks and Geeks, Night Shift), so many more.

Including, of course, Guillermo del Toro, who’s been kind enough to share Doug Jones with me.

All of which is my way of saying it’s an amazing and wonderful time, with the best yet to come.

Thanks for making it all possible, and for keeping faith with me. None of it would be happening without you.

All good thoughts your way,

Marc
