Well, at long last I can tell you what I’ve been up to these long months — It’s truly GREAT stuff!
First off, I’ve just finished drafts of the first FOUR SPACE COMMAND screenplays and two further stories. They cover 150 years of the Kemmer, Sekander and Odara families in a hopeful vision of the future that I’m just thrilled with.
This video explains it all. Don’t miss it!
So to recap, the six SPACE COMMAND stories are:
“United Planet,” currently in storyline, which takes place thirty years from now. Inspired by an idea suggested to me by Neil deGrasse Tyson.
“Redemption,” in script form, which takes place sixty years from now.
“Forgiveness,” in script from, which takes place sixty years from now.
“The Great Solar War,” in script form, which takes place ninety years from now.
“Empire,” in script form, which takes place 150 years from now.
“Harvester,” which takes place 150 years from now.
Right now, the plan is to start with “Redemption” and shoot several SPACE COMMAND films back to back. It’s a BIG story, with great characters and gripping stories (if I do say so myself).
I’ve written many of the roles with my friends in mind, and hopefully they’ll be able to fit SPACE COMMAND into their busy schedules! A number of them have been reading the scripts and loving them – which is an encouraging sign!
Marc and Elaine Zicree with Mira Furlan.
I should mention that Elaine and I will be producing and co-directing “Redemption.” We did the same on STAR TREK NEW VOYAGES “World Enough and Time,” which was nominated for both the Hugo and Nebula Awards. (I always figure if something’s working, keep doing it!)
Meanwhile, famed STAR WARS artists Iain McCaig has been designing our characters and more…
While Dave Dorman has done a splendiferous design of Captain Jack Kemmer’s SPACE COMMAND cruiser Paladin, which Tobias Richter in Germany has just done a phenomenal job of modeling and texturing.
A taste of otherworldly adventure music from our stellar composer David Raiklen is at the end of this update.
Beyond this, we’ve completed the callbacks for our incredibly gifted Talent Search Finalists for the Kemmer and Bradbury roles (Ethan McDowell and Bryan McClure pictured here). We’ll be announcing our choices very soon! (Such a wealth of great people to choose from…)
So now we ramp up into pre-production, with an even bigger studio space. Designs are being drawn, budgets laid out, construction soon to begin, actors getting ready… It’s a family affair.
And, as always, the most important person is SPACE COMMAND is YOU….
All good thoughts your way,
